How to use the green screen
- Set your device to a comfortable brightness and choose Open fullscreen. Move the window to the monitor you want to view first.
- Use Hide controls for an uninterrupted field. Move the pointer, tap, or press a key to reveal the controls again. Use the named color buttons or arrow keys to switch colors.
- Select Close screen or press Escape to leave. If your browser refuses fullscreen, the field stays usable inside the window; browser bars may remain visible.
Choose your own shade with Custom color, or enter a three- or six-digit HEX value and select Apply color. The preview and fullscreen field update together. Switch back to a named preset using the fullscreen color buttons.
A green field for backgrounds
Use a plain green screen as a background on a display or select a custom green shade. This tool paints one color; it does not remove a video background, access your camera, or perform chroma keying. If you photograph a physical screen, reflections, moiré, exposure, and uneven lighting may make it unsuitable as a clean keying surface.
Check how a point behaves on green
Inspect a fixed point at normal viewing distance, then compare it on red, blue, white, and black. A point visible only on green is an observation, not an automatic diagnosis. Dust and surface marks can stay in the same location too. Use the guided dead pixel test when you need a complete color sequence.
A digital value, not calibrated green
The default green is RGB 0, 255, 0. Vivid picture modes, color profiles, and display technology can change its appearance. A single green field cannot prove color accuracy or green gamut coverage. Use the RGB test for channel steps and the color-space tools for browser color-handling comparisons.
What this color field cannot measure
The page requests #00FF00 (RGB 0, 255, 0). Browser color handling, device settings, ambient light, and the panel affect what you see. A uniform field is a visual aid; it cannot measure color accuracy, luminance, contrast ratio, gamut coverage, or physical response time. Screenshots cannot document a physical pixel defect; a photo can record a location, but its exposure is not a measurement.
On phones and tablets, fullscreen availability varies by browser and device. The window fallback remains usable, but cannot remove system bars or cover an area reserved by the operating system. Use the larger preview for a plain background, and a focused test for a specific display question.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an online green screen video editor?
No. It displays a solid green background. It does not record video, remove backgrounds, or request camera access.
Can I use a full green screen for pixel checks?
Yes, as one visual field. Compare any suspect point on the other colors and use the dead pixel test for a fuller inspection. This does not repair pixels.
Can I choose a custom color instead of green?
Yes. Use Custom color to choose a shade, or enter a three- or six-digit HEX value and select Apply color. The preview and fullscreen field use the selected color. The named preset remains available in the fullscreen controls.
